Would you rather live in Spain or Italy?

Thoughts about living (and loving) both countries

“Could you start on Monday?”

It was a Thursday morning nearly ten years ago.

The beginning of a new job and, most importantly, five exhilarating years of life in sunny Barcelona.

All good things eventually come to an end, though, and I’ve long since relocated to my birthplace of Turin, in northwestern Italy.

During my spell there, though, I fell so deeply in love with Spain as a whole that, if you asked me to choose where I would rather spend the rest of my days, I wouldn’t have hesitated to pick Spain over Italy.

However, my current life in Italy over the last few years has been pleasant too, and I feel the passage of time has allowed me to develop a more nuanced, if still very much subjective, view of life in both countries.

So, without further ado, here’s what my experience in these two beautiful, endlessly charming countries tells me…
